The caretaker of a 19th century Irish graveyard had been trying for years to keep the crows away from pecking at the headstones and landing all around specific graves...so he decided one day to create a being to keep the crows away from the bodies, for fear of an old wives tale that the crow allows people to rise from the dead and tend to unfinished business...

He dug up bodies, much like Viktor Frankenstein, and assembled a makeshift being that resembled a human, to keep the crows from landing and disturbing the resting souls. The caretaker hung the creature at the center of the graveyard and left for the day. However the caretaker came down with influenza and a dreadful fever, and died alone in his shack in the graveyard.

The creature hung for 100 years, lifeless and rotting, until the crows, still unafraid, started inhabiting it's very soul...a collective conscious of the rising souls in the cemetary grew inside the being. It rose to life, hanging on a cruciform, but barely coherent, aside from some basic animal instincts. The creature ate the crows for survival and still to this day hangs together by various body parts, straw, thread and a heart blacker than the umbra of an eclipse...

People to this day dress a figure and hang it near their home to scare the crows from their resting crops, as well as to honour the tortured thing that was once brought to life by Satan's messengers....
